Luca Bresel (ninth player in the world) made the surprise of the day in the Crucible, the Belgian managed to eliminate Mark Williams (three-time world champion) from the snooker championship.

Mark Williams was eliminated in the 1/8 finals of the World Snooker Championship

Winner of the event in 2000, 2003 and 2018, Williams eventually lost 13-11 (the Round of 16 is played on a best-of-25 frame basis).

The Welshman led 9-6 at one point, showed serious signs of a comeback, leveled at 11 after his opponent was 11-8, but lacked inspiration late in the match and paid the price with an exit from the Crucible.

Williams (No. 8 in the world) missed a possible quarter-final match with Ronnie O’Sullivan (the reigning world champion leads 6-2 after the first day of the match with Hossein Vafaei).

Big problems for Neil Robertson as well

Things are not better for Neil Robertson, the Australian one step away from being eliminated from the Crucible.

2010 world champion Robertson leads Jack Jones (world number 52) 10-6 going into the final session of the match.

Neil needs a real tour de force to recover and hope to reach the quarter-finals of the world tournament.
