Andriy Rublev (6 ATP) won his first title of the year, defeating Denmark’s Holger Roon 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 in the ATP Monte Carlo final.

Sixth-seeded Roon won the first set, which was tied before the tiebreak.

The second set belonged to the Russian, who completely dominated the ninth racket of the world.

In the deciding set, the former student of Patrika Muratoglu led 3:0, but Rublev made a great comeback and overturned the result of the final.

The game lasted 2 hours and 21 minutes.

  • Holger and Andriy have met twice before and shared their victories: Roon won 6-4, 7-5 at the Paris Masters 2022, and Rublev won at the Australian Open 2023: 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7 -6(9).
  • Holger is the youngest player (he turns 20 on April 29) to reach the Monte Carlo Masters final since Rafael Nadal in 2006.

The Monte Carlo tournament took place from April 9 to 16 on clay, with a total prize pool of €5,779,335. The champion of the last two events is Stefanos Tsitsipas, while Rafael Nadal is the authoritative leader in terms of trophies won: 11.
