They are part of the football phenomenon, they hold important positions in the clubs or in the FRF/LPF, they are former players and coaches, many call themselves “oracles” and “sports analysts” and draw your attention to the glass on genre shows. They all say the same thing: “we are very experienced football drums and you should listen carefully to everything we tell you”.
We do not question their time-tested knowledge, but we also want to review the big blunders of these famous football people. However, we note that only those who do not work are not mistaken. The great Mourinho was also wrong… 🙂
The series is opened by Mihai Stoyka, CEO of FCSB, known as MM.
Mihai Stoica, arrogant and arrogant as he calls himself, is considered one of the few in Romanian football who knows the sport and always speaks with reason.
His latest bet is new FCSB head coach Elias Charalambous, even if claims about his decision-making authority in Gigi Bekali’s squad are laughable:
“I brought Elias Kharalambous to the same channel as Oleg Protasov in 2005, Protasov was exclusively my attitude, no one knew about him,” boasts Mihai Stoyka.

No one disputes this, but the FCSB manager also forgets the famous blunders listed in the transfer chapter:
1. Andriy Nazario Alfonso – one-game goalkeeper
This Brazilian goalkeeper, who was scouted by MM in 2007 and brought from Brazil from Figueres, is probably the only goalkeeper in history to be injured in the first training session.
His only “benchmark” match at Steaua was Steaua v Dynamo in April 2007, when Andrii scored goals from all positions, although MM was very enthusiastic at Andrii’s official presentation, telling ProSport: “With Andrii’s involvement, we solved the problem The problem of the starting goalkeeper, a nerve point for us the last 2 years.”
Despite MM’s optimism, Andy left the team at the end of the 2006-2007 season.
2. Gabi Matei, “the future of the national team”
The player was brought in 2011 at the insistence of MM from Panduria Tirgu-Zhiu, who said about him that he would surely become a future left defender of the national team.
He managed to mark only 7 matches in 4 years in Steaua, becoming famous only for matches outside the field, more precisely for his relationship with Madalina Pamphile
Here’s what the manager had to say about Gabi Matei in 2011:
“Gabi is a full-fledged defender, I am convinced that he will be able to establish himself in Steaua, you will see that he will replace Rezvan Ratz in the national team,” – said MM for ProSport.
3. Christy Dumitru is the “Aguero of FCSB”
In October 2020, Mihai Stojka compared Dumitra to former Atletico Madrid, Manchester City and Barcelona star Sergio Aguero: “Christie is a player with the profile of Kun Aguero, a footballer you will hear and quote me about”. GSP.ro.
In the first team of the red and blue, Christ had few chances. He played only 7 games in the championship, never scoring or providing decisive assists in the first stage. Instead, he has two successes in the Romanian Cup with Dynamo (3-0) and Dunerja Calaras (1-2), as well as a goal in the second round of the Europa League preliminary round, 2-1 against the Moldovans from Milsami Orhei .
Then he was loaned to Akademika Klincheni, FC Argesh, CS Mioveni, that is, to much smaller teams where he could get more minutes and later become a useful player for FCSB.
So it’s been 3 years now, during which Dumitru has been disappointing, managing to score just 4 times in 80 Ligue 1 games!
4. Leandro Tatu
It was brought to Romania by Mihai Stoica from Beira Mar.
Although he boasts a goal in the 2013 UEFA Champions League group stage against Basel, Tatu has only scored 6 goals in 3 years at Steaua, the Brazilian forward also became a bone of contention in 2013 when Regekampf accused Mihai Stojka of forcing him to Tatu , so that it would not seem like another missed transfer for him.
At the end of 2013, Leandro Tatu left the team.
5. Carlos Fernandes – “crazy”, as the goalkeeper was nicknamed, was born in Kinshasa, DR Congo, but has Portuguese and Angolan citizenship.
He was recruited by MM in January 2006 from Boavista and is remembered by supporters for his inexplicable mistakes.
He left Steaua after a year in January 2007, although when Carlos arrived at Steaua, MM stated that “we are going to the foreign sector, he is a perfect replacement for Hamutovsky and he is a more reflexive goalkeeper than the Belarusian”.
And Carlos spoiled (of course, more than one) one of the most important matches in the recent history of “Stella” – the semi-final of the UEFA Cup against “Boro”.
6. Boyan Golubovych
Another at least strange transfer of MM was Boyan Golubovic, who was transferred to Steaua in the 2016-2017 season from Poli Iasi and was repeatedly compared by MM to Federico Piovacari.
Holubovych played just 10 games in all competitions, scored one goal and left the defense after only six months.
7. Elton Xavier Gomez
The player who closes this top, by far the most “sound” transfer ever made by MM, the 1.54 49kg midfielder, was brought in after MM’s keen eye spotted him in a Corinthians shirt.
In the second part of the 2006/2007 season, Elton played for FCSB. The Brazilian made just nine appearances and scored, even on his debut in a 2-0 win over FC Argesh.
Elton was brought in by FCSB after Mihai Stojka watched him in person in Brazil in early 2007.
After the manager saw him in a Corinthians shirt and consulted with coach Cosmin Olaru, the team managed by Gigi Becali managed to transfer him for around $1.6 million and he was officially introduced in March of that year.
“But I’m dating Elton. Top secret, at the gas station. It’s a shame, he just sits with his head in the ground. I explain to him what it is about. He looks pleased, starts to smile. There is chemistry, that was the most important thing. Unfortunately, the person who decides does not appear. I have to leave Brazil. The team is based in Cyprus. I don’t know what we will do. They said, they operated, all returns will be lost. Little chance with Elton. I am going to Larnaca. On the plane I watch a DVD, Elton, melhores momentes. It’s a sensation, I can’t wait to show it to Oli to see what he says,” Mihai Stojka said of the first discussion he had with Elton in Brazil. Mihai Stojka said, according to GSP.ro
