England also hosted the 1966 World Cup and EURO 1996, while EURO 2020 saw more matches played at Wembley and Hampden Park.

UEFA also confirmed that it has received files from Turkey regarding hosting EURO 2028 or 2032, as well as from Italy regarding EURO 2032, Agerpres reports.

In October, the UEFA Executive Committee will determine the countries that will host the two final tournaments.
