In good spirits after getting past Dalma Galfi, Iryna Begu also dominated the match against Sofia Kenin (142 WTA), which she finished in one hour and 23 minutes.
Iryna Begu had an exceptional first set, in which she conceded only one game to her opponent and closed it in just 29 minutes.
The second act was much more balanced, with both players battling to their best, but the Romanian eventually prevailed.
Thanks to the success achieved against Sofia Kenin, Iryna Begu will receive a check for $9,900 and 55 points in the WTA singles ranking.
Begu will meet Jessica Pegula in the 1/8 finals.
Jessica Pegula (3rd WTA) also advanced to the round of 16 after an easy win over Anna Blinkova (63rd WTA), score 6-2, 6-0.
Charleston Open 2023 will be held from April 3 to 9 on outdoor clay and is part of the WTA 500 category. The total prize fund of the tournament is $780,637. Titled champion – Belinda Bencic.
