The University of Cluj will meet UTA Arad in the semi-finals of the Romanian Cup

With the emotion of remaining in the first division, Hermannstadt was eliminated from the quarter-finals of the Romanian Cup.

The team coached by Marius Meldarashanu could not surprise the opponent, although they were leading 1-0 at the break thanks to Bab Alhassan’s goal (41st minute). The Ghanaian midfielder distinguished himself with the transfer of the Romanian national team Raul Opruts.

In the second half, the guests played much better, and Ioan Ovidiu Sabau made a good change.

Entering the field at half-time, Alexandru Chipciu restored the tie in the 51st minute with a deflected shot.

In the 62nd minute, the Red Caps coach made another inspired substitution when he brought on Mamadou Thiam.

The Senegalese striker scored a left-footed shot in the 75th minute of the game.

The Sybians could have equalized the score in the last minutes of the game, but Iliev very successfully interfered with Butyan’s shot.

Thus, the Transylvania team will meet UTA Arad in the semi-finals.
