Two-time European and world champion in 100 and 200 meters freestyle Davyd Popovichi started directly at the national swimming championship in Otopeni.
The CS Dinamo Bucharest-registered athlete won the 50m freestyle, finishing in 22.62 seconds.
“It was a very good test, I tried something new, swimming with arms outstretched. Now I’m experimenting, taking advantage of the fact that it’s not a very big bet.” – said David Popovichi.
The podium was completed by Konstantin George Aleksandra Stoyka and Patrick Sebastian Dina.
Also on Wednesday, David Popovich won gold in the second final of the day. He finished first in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 54.74 seconds.
David Popovici is participating in the national swimming championships in Otopeni in 4 more sports: 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle and 400m freestyle.
