After seven losses and only one win in 2023, Austrian Dominik Thiem managed to defeat his compatriot Sebastian Ofner (122 ATP) in the first round of ATP Estoril (Portugal) with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Former world No. 3 Dominic Thiem, who is ranked 111 in the ATP rankings after several injuries and five consecutive defeats in his last matches, managed to get through the first round in Estoril.

A formidable opponent even for the greats Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, the former US Open 2020 winner is now fighting to return to the world’s top 100 players.

In the second round of ATP Estoril, Dominic Thiem will play against American Ben Shelton (39 ATP).

Estoril Open 2023 takes place from April 3 to 9 on outdoor clay and is part of the ATP 250 category. The total prize money of the tournament is €562,815 and the reigning champion is Sebastian Baez of Argentina.
