In the 2022 edition, players from Russia and Belarus were not allowed to play at Wimbledon due to Vladimir Putin’s war against Ukraine.
On Friday, March 31, the organizers of Wimbledon announced that they will meet Russians and Belarusians at the London major, but under a neutral flag.
Petra Kvitova added that the players were not consulted about the decision of the Wimbledon organizers and that this issue was not discussed in the locker room.
After beating Sorana Kirstea, Petra Kvitova (12 WTA) will battle for the Miami trophy with Elena Rybakina (7 WTA), after the 2022 Wimbledon champion defeated Jessica Pegula (3 WTA), 7-6(3), 6-4.
The final will take place on Saturday at 20:00 (Romanian time), the match will be broadcast on Digisport channels.
