Lewis Hamilton is in the last year of his contract with Mercedes, and there have been rumors in the press that the Briton could move to Ferrari. Before the Australian Grand Prix, the multiple world champion talked about his future.

Lewis Hamilton wants to end his career at Mercedes

At the age of 38, Hamilton said he sees himself at Mercedes for the rest of his career, as long as he can help the German team.

“I feel at home in this family. I see myself in Mercedes until the end, to be honest. I have great allies on the team, great relationships here.

As long as I continue to lead the team forward, make a real contribution… but if I get to the point where I feel I can’t do that anymore, then it’s time for a junior pilot.” – Lewis Hamiltonquoted by Reuters.

RedBull, untouchable in this season of Formula-1

In the first two races this year, neither Hamilton nor his teammate George Russell managed to climb the podium in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) took two third places behind the RedBull drivers.

Hamilton described the current car as better than last year’s, but it may take some time before it reaches RedBull level: “I realize it may take a long time to catch up with the car in front of us. When you look at RedBull, they just keep going.”
