Japan won three gold medals

With a result of 301.14 points, 25-year-old Uno was ahead of South Korean Cha Junghwan (296.03 points) and American Ilya Malinin (288.44 points).

In doing so, Uno offers the host nation a third title at the event, following the gold medals won by Kaori Sakamoto on Friday and the pair of Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara in the doubles competition on Thursday.

The Japanese, although he injured his shin in training before the short program, skated beautifully to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, despite a small mistake when landing after a jump at the very beginning of the program, reports Agerpres.

However, the opening of the competition was the only 18-year-old American Ilya Malinin, who managed no less than six quadruple jumps.

However, he only got bronze, losing to South Korea’s Cha, who did a special program to a song from a James Bond movie.
