The Australian Open champion defeated American Shelby Rogers (42 WTA) in two sets, 6-4, 6-3. The match lasted an hour and 16 minutes.

The main favorite of the competition in Florida, after the elimination of the Polish Iga Svyatek Sabalenko, will beat the Czech Marie Buzhkova (36 WTA, 31st number) in the next round.
