Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova (WTA No. 11) was shocked by World No. 103 Marketa Vondrousova 6-4, 6-2 in the second round of the WTA 1000 in Miami.

Although the player from the Czech Republic got off to a rough start, she recovered from the lead and won the first set 6-4.

In the second set, Vondrousova was much sharper, taking advantage of Kudermetova’s mistakes, and won a decisive victory with a score of 6-2.

The match lasted one hour and 31 minutes.

Marek Vondrousova will meet ex-world leader Karolina Pliskova (17 WTA) in the third round of WTA Miami.

The Miami Open takes place from March 21 to April 2 on hard, is in the “WTA 1000” category and has a total prize pool of $8,800,000. There are 96 players in the main draw, and the reigning champion is Iga Svyatek.
