The leader of the world ranking, Iga Svyatek, was forced to withdraw from the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami.

According to the WTA, the Polish woman withdrew from the competition in Florida due to a rib injury.

The cited source also notes that Sviatek will be replaced in the main draw by Yulia Grabher (a lucky loser – the Austrian is ranked 94th in the WTA rankings).

The Miami Open takes place from March 21 to April 2 on hard, is in the “WTA 1000” category and has a total prize pool of $8,800,000. There are 96 players in the main draw, and the reigning champion is Iga Svyatek.
