The FRF claims that UEFA did not grant the right to use the symbol of “Greater Hungary”.
“The FRF appealed to the forum in Nyon with a request to receive an official opinion on the announcement of the Hungarian Football Federation.
As a result of the response received from UEFA, we provide the following clarifications:
- UEFA did not and will not allow the display of the symbols mentioned by the Hungarian Football Federation at European level matches.
- We believe that the Hungarian Football Federation was wrong to make such an announcement, as the display of these symbols is a deviation from the provisions of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (communication of provocative and/or political content) and the FRF will definitely report this to the disciplinary commissions. , if necessary.
The Football Federation of Romania reminds that revisionism is unacceptable in football and trusts UEFA’s disciplinary commissions to sanction the display of this symbol, which can potentially incite hatred and violence at matches in European competitions,” the statement said. FRF press release.
It will be recalled that on Tuesday, March 21, the Hungarian Football Federation announced that it has UEFA’s permission to use the historical symbol of “Great Hungary” at national matches.
