Kylian Mbappe will be the new captain of the French national team

At the age of 24, Mbappe has already played 66 matches for the Galician Rooster team and scored 36 goals.

France also have a new vice-captain after Raphael Varane also decided to retire from the French national team, with Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann taking over the role from now on.

Mbappe’s first match as captain will take place between France and the Netherlands at the Stade de France as part of qualifying for Euro 2024 (the final tournament will be hosted by Germany).

Kylian Mbappe is already a world champion (2018) and a world vice-champion (2022) as part of France.

Former captain Hugo Lloris has worn the armband since 2010.
