Rezvan Marin, one of the few Romanians who have managed to establish himself abroad in recent years, has given advice to young players who will be moving to teams outside the country.

Rezvan Marin: “No one is waiting for you abroad”

In an interview with FRF TV, the Empoli midfielder (98 Serie A appearances) said that footballers must become more competitive when they travel abroad.

“It was difficult for me to settle in, especially at the beginning in Belgium, at Standard, I left when I was 20 years old. I think that a Romanian player, especially when he goes out and faces difficulties, has a tendency to want to come back. Because here, if you are young and valuable, club presidents want to help you more, you have certain advantages.

But on the street you have to work, become very competitive, I’ve worked hard, I’m happy to be close to 100 games in Serie A. My message is to work hard to get a place in the team, become competitive because that’s where you’re waiting on you, I can immediately find someone else” – Razvan Marin.

Marin says the national team must win matches against Andorra and Belarus in the qualifiers for the 2024 European Championship.

“I’m ready with the national team in mind and I hope we have a very good campaign. We have to start the right way, have six points after the first two games, be fully focused and give it all on the pitch. I expect two combat matches. We also need a little chance, but mostly we have to give ourselves to everyone on the pitch.

I also want to get to the European or World Championships. A young team can be an advantage, the players want to show what they can do, maybe they come with too much ambition, but it can also be a disadvantage in terms of experience.

The most important asset is being a family. At the National Arena, we played to a full stadium almost every time, I want the fans to be with the team, let’s start a new path” – Razvan Marin.
