At the age of 28, Svitolina temporarily stopped competing after giving birth to a baby girl (Sky) last October.
The athlete from Ukraine is the wife of tennis player Gael Monfils, who was ranked 6th in the ATP ranking (in November 2016). Svitolina and Monfils got married in 2021.
Svitolina’s last official match took place on March 24, 2022, when Elina lost to Heather Watson in the first round of the tournament in Miami.
“Ukraine’s most successful player used her maternity leave to support her country after the Russian invasion last year,” the WTA said, according to News.ro.
