Erling Haaland wanted to score again in the match against RB Leipzig
At the end of the match, Haaland declared that his “super talent” was to score goals and said he would have liked to score at least once more in the second half (but was replaced by Pep Guardiola).
“It’s a big night. First of all, I am proud to play in the Champions League, I love this competition. I’m very happy after scoring five goals and winning 7-0 at home.
I’m a little foggy, so I don’t remember all the heads. My super talent is to score goals. if I can be honest, I didn’t even think about the majority, I just did it, tried to score the ball into the goal.
The moment I left the pitch I told Pep I wanted a double hat-trick (one in each half) but is that all you want?’ – Erling Haalandafter the match with RB Leipzig.
Guardiola explained why he replaced Haaland in the match against RB Leipzig
In the 63rd minute, Guardiola replaced Haaland with Julián Alvarez and denied the Norwegian a chance to set a new record in Europe’s top competitions.
“If he had broken this record at the age of 22 or 23, his life would have become boring. So now he has a goal for the future. Here or anywhere. That’s why I made the change. I didn’t know that Leo Messi also did it with Leverkusen. I was told to have a blitz interview. But I make changes because usually when the match ends, I want to give everyone a chance to play as much as possible.” Pep Guardiolacoach of Manchester City.
Coach Marco Rose, who coached the Norwegian during his time at Borussia Dortmund, also spoke about Erling’s performance.
“As for Haaland’s performance, he had an incredible evening, showed his huge appetite for goals, won aerial duels, rebounded balls, ran… He was the best player of the match and deserves all the congratulations” – Marco Rosecoach of RB Leipzig.
