Manchester City beat RB Leipzig 7:0 (8:1 on aggregate) and reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League. Erling Haaland became the hero of the match at the Etihad Stadium: the Norwegian forward scored five goals.

Erling scored three times in the first half (’22 pen, ’24, ’45+2) and twice more in the second half (’53, ’57).

At the end of the match, Haaland declared that his “super talent” was to score goals and said he would have liked to score at least once more in the second half (but was replaced by Pep Guardiola).

Guardiola explained why he replaced Haaland in the match against RB Leipzig

In the 63rd minute, Guardiola replaced Haaland with Julián Alvarez and denied the Norwegian a chance to set a new record in Europe’s top competitions.

“If he had broken this record at the age of 22 or 23, his life would have become boring. So now he has a goal for the future. Here or anywhere. That’s why I made the change. I didn’t know that Leo Messi also did it with Leverkusen. I was told to have a blitz interview.
