The competition was held in a multifunctional hall in Bucharest, and in the final, the 20-year-old Romanian athlete defeated Karapet Manvelian.
Before the last act, the Romanian overtook Moldovan Leonid Moroz in the quarterfinals and Ukrainian Eduard Strilchuk in the semifinals.
This is the first medal for Romania after these Greco-Roman competitions.
Romania is competing with 30 fighters, ten in each style.
Last year, the Romanian delegation finished the European Under-23 Wrestling Championship in Plovdiv with five medals, gold was won by Andrea Beatrice Ana (cat. 55 kg), silver by Amina Roxana Capezan (cat. 65 kg), Maria Larisa Nitsu ( cat. 72 kg) and Cristian Biro (cat. 74 kg, freestyle wrestling), and the bronze was won by Denis Florin Mihai (cat. 55 kg, Greco-Roman wrestling).
