Gike Hagi believes that Yanis Hagi will have to call up Edi Iordenescu for the match in the qualifying group for Euro 2024

Back on the pitch more than a year after a serious injury at the start of 2022, Janis Hagi has so far picked up some minutes for Glasgow Rangers.

However, Gike Hagi believes that Edi Iordenescu should call up Yanis to the first team, citing the fact that the selectors have categorized him as an important player for Romania.

“I don’t want the public to be misinformed or carried away by emotions. There are two important things. The first thing that Janis said when he was injured was that the coach of the national team told him that he was a very important player. At least that’s how I read it.

Now Yanis is healthy, he plays a little because he can no longer play. I saw, or all of Romania saw, but he was not even called to the preliminary list.

I, as a former player, as a football player, come and say: Yanis is not important for the selector. If it was important, then of course it was at least on the list of foreigners. When the player is told outright that this is very important, I wonder why it isn’t in the first act.

Simply, I understand that it is not important for the selector. It is not even in the previous list! That is, it does not matter for the national team. This is reality, it is not important for the national team.” – said Hyke Hagi on Digi Sport Special.
