Ons Jaber defeated by Marketa Vondrousova in Indian Wells

Vondrousova (Roland Garros 2019 finalist), who is ranked 105th in the world, knocked out the fourth racket of the world after an hour and 32 minutes of play with a score of 7-6(5), 6-4.

Marketa managed to win five games in a row in both sets and saved her sixth match point (Ons came back from 1-5 in the second set, but could not recover the second break).

The tournament in the California desert (WTA 1000) was the first after almost a two-month break for Jaber (last year’s Wimbledon and US Open finalist). At the 2023 Australian Open, the last tournament she competed in, Ons also lost to Marketa (in the second round).

In Indian Wells, in the 1/8 finals, Vondrousova will meet her compatriot Karolina Mukhova (76 WTA), who beat the Italian Martina Trevisan (26 WTA, favorite 23) in three sets with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
