Following the unannounced departure of Cefas Malele and an injury to Daniel Birlighe, Dan Petrescu is looking for a striker that CFR Cluj can rely on in the play-offs as they try to win a new Super Lig title.

Jo came to Cluj-Napoca, but he has extra kilos

Former Manchester City and Galatasaray player Joao Alves de Assis Silva, known as Jo, has arrived in Romania where he will undergo a medical before signing for CFR Cluj.

Coach Dan Petrescu, who coached Joe in the 2015-2016 season at Jiangsu Suning, announced that the striker is completely unfit.

“Joe appeared, I saw him after so many years. He’s a little rounder than I knew him to be. He didn’t do anything for two months, the boy admitted. Now let’s see what we can get out of it. Nothing has been signed yet.

He was at a doctor’s appointment, I say that it is better to act, let’s see what will be useful for us. I would not want him to come to watch the matches, to be just a spectator. I wish he had come a little more prepared. He is absolutely not ready.

From that point of view, I would like to make a decision together with the club after tomorrow’s game. We must give a fair assessment. We’ll see after the match with U Cluj.” – said Dan Petrescu, reports Digisport.

CFR Cluj will face Cluj University in Gruia on Monday at 20:30 in the last game of the regular season.
