Yannick Sinner lived up to his favorite status to beat France’s Richard Gasquet 6-3, 7-6(2) in the second round at Indian Wells.

The tournament favorite at No. 11, the Italian led in the first set but came back from two service losses to Gasquet to eventually win.

The second set ended with a tie-break, where Darren Cahill’s student did not give the 43rd ranked racket of the world a chance.

In the third round, Yannick Sinner (13 ATP) will meet the winner of Adriano Mannarino (68 ATP) and Lorenzo Musetti (21 ATP).

Indian Wells will be held from March 6-19 on hard and 96 players have started in the two main draws. The contest offers $8,800,000 each for men and women. Titled champions – Taylor Fritz and Iga Svyatek.
