The 20 referees from the Ligue 2 and Ligue 3 groups allegedly engaged in match-fixing are currently under investigation by the Integrity Department of the Romanian Football Federation.
According to gsp.ro sources, 20 referees will be investigated for violations of domestic and international rules related to betting.
The information presented comes just a day after Rezvan Burleanu, president of the FRF, said at a press conference that the Federation’s Integrity Department is investigating several cases of people suspected of betting on domestic league matches.
“All the investigations that are ongoing so far confirm the fact that we are interested in ensuring that football is celebrated with integrity. The integrity department investigates many cases at the football level.
Unfortunately, we cannot share with you what these cases are and at what stage they are. In most cases, there is cooperation with state bodies. In most cases, we used the support of the state authorities, because the resources are completely different” – Rezvan Burleanu.
