
Gabriel Bitan (24) won a bronze medal in the long jump at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Istanbul on Sunday.
Gabriel’s best jump is 8.00 meters, the others are 7.43 meters, 7.69 and 7.82 meters (Bitan was also third in the qualification).
The gold went to the Greek Miltiadis Tentoglu (8.32 meters – the current Olympic champion), and the silver – to the Swede Tobias Montler (8.19 meters).
Also on Sunday, Daniela Stanciu took 8th place (the last – after three misses at 1.91 meters) in the high jump final.
We will remind, on Saturday, Claudia Bobochea won a silver medal at the distance of 1500 meters (4:03.76 minutes).

- The last medals won by Romania at the European Indoor Athletics Championships were recorded eight years ago, with Marian Oprea (triple jump) and Florentina Juszko (long jump) winning bronze medals then.
- The Romanian delegation included 14 athletes (7 girls and 7 boys), and a total of 593 athletes from 47 countries are participating in the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul.
