
The “galaxy” of athletics has replenished with a new star. His name is Nicholas Andrikopoulos and yesterday (3/3) she opened the scoring in international awards with a European silver medal in the triple jump. He is fascinated by technology on the small screen, but prefers something classic on the big screen… For example, the 1994 American drama film The Last Exit: Rita Hayworth with Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman.
Nicholas Andrikopoulos connected his life with sports from a young age. When he was in elementary school on a Monday, he put on his athletic shoes and, despite a few disappointments, he never took them off.
He started at the Pallini Academy and gradually chose the triple jump. “It was suggested to me by my coach Dimitris Damaskinos. He would see something,” he said from Turkey on cathimerini.gr ranked second in Europe.

The previous result was achieved by Dimitris Mijas in 1982 in Milan (16.52 m). Until now, his honors have been limited to the Balkan championships.
“He deserves a medal. He had bad performances in the past, but he found himself. He deserved a medal. How do we say “it was fair and it was done”? That’s right… He was rewarded for his efforts,” said current coach Dimitris Vassilikos, with whom Nicholas has been working since July last year.
In his free time, the European runner-up spends with friends, plays video games and loves movies.
The Last Exit is one of his favorite films. After graduating from the University of Piraeus, athletics became his priority. “He is very consistent. He works professionally. Impeccable attitude and commitment to what he does. He comes to training five minutes early and leaves last,” his coach emphasized.
