New rules for penalties and goal celebrations

At the end of next week, a new meeting will be held in London, where together with the IFAB – the body that sets the rules of football, the option of introducing a timer that stops during matches will be studied, writes Marca.

A number of measures are already being taken. From next season, the time lost in goal celebrations will be added to the extra time of each half.

Another rule that will come into effect prohibits goalkeepers from distracting 11-yard kick takers, delaying execution, touching the post, crossbar or net.

In addition, according to former manager Arsene Wenger, now FIFA’s director of development, there will be discussions about the offside rule and overturning the penalty currently awarded to an attacking player.
