Novak Djokovic had an upset in his match against Tomas Machak as the world number one needed a tiebreak in the deciding set to overcome the ATP ranking of 130. The Serb is playing in the 1/8 finals of the ATP Dubai tournament in the “500” category.

Nole used it with great effort to outlast Machak, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(1), at the end of a match that lasted two hours and 27 minutes.

After Tuesday’s victory, Joker explained the reasons why he had such a poor start to the tournament in Dubai.

“Certainly, Tomas didn’t perform like a player ranked 130th in the world, he really deserves all the applause. This has caused me enough trouble.

Physically I feel better. I’ve been struggling with injuries for a few weeks and it took me a while to get used to holding the racquet.

I didn’t play much tennis before the Dubai tournament, so hopefully as the tournament progresses I can improve my tennis level” – Novak Djokovicquoted by welovetennis.fr.

In the 1/8 finals of ATP Dubai, Nole will meet Tallon Grikspoor from the Netherlands, who is ranked 39th in the world.

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships will take place from February 27 to March 4 on hard, is in the ATP 500 category and has a total prize fund of $2,855,495. Titled champion – Andriy Rublev (2022).

Djokovic has 12 wins and no losses this season, and the Serbian has already won two tournaments in 2023: Adelaide and the Australian Open. Another interesting point: Nole has lost just three sets since the start of the year, one of which was against Machak on Tuesday night.
