Lewis Hamilton says Mercedes is still behind rivals RedBull and Ferrari
After seasons of Mercedes dictating the pace, RedBull has taken control of Formula 1, and now Toto Wolff (Mercedes boss) is trying, along with the team he leads, to offer Lewis Hamilton a single-seater with which the Briton can expect to fight at the top
After three days in Bahrain, the conclusions are not necessarily the best for Hamilton.
The Brit is pleased with the Mercedes team’s performance in Bahrain, but believes the gap with rivals RedBull and Ferrari still exists.
“It’s been an interesting few days in Bahrain (non-testing related). There were many breakthroughs and the whole team approached them with the same mindset, working hard and with a very good focus.
We’re not quite where we wanted to be, but it’s still a good starting point for this season.
I don’t know where we will be next week, but we have to remain optimistic and continue to push our boundaries” – Lewis Hamiltonquoted by the profile press.
