Barbora Krejcikova (30 WTA) made a surprise of the tournament “WTA 1000” in Dubai, winning in the final of the big favorite Igu Svyatek (1 WTA).

Former Roland Garros 2021 winner Krejcikova took an hour and a half to win in two sets, 6-4, 6-2.

Considered the opening of the tournament in Dubai, the athlete from the Czech Republic overcame second favorite Aryna Sabalenko (2 WTA) in the quarterfinals and Jessica Pegula (3 WTA), who has a third chance, in the semifinals.

After this trophy, Barbora Krejcikova will make a jump of 14 positions in the world ranking, taking the 16th place in the WTA.

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships runs from February 19 to 25 on hard, is part of the “WTA 1000” category and has a total prize pool of $2,788,468. Simona Halep won the tournament in 2015 and 2020, and the last edition went to Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia.
