Barbora Krejcikova was the surprise of this edition of the Dubai tournament, after the Czech player eliminated Jessica Pegula, the number 3 favorite, 6-1, 5-7, 6-0.

Barbora Krejcikova – Iga Svyatek, the final of the tournament in Dubai / Jessica Pegula completes the list of victims of the player from the Czech Republic

After beating Irina Bega (39 WTA), Daria Kasatkina (8 WTA), Petra Kvitova (15 WTA) and Aryna Sabalenko (2 WTA), Barbora Krejcikova (30 WTA) was eliminated from Dubai, and Jessica Pegula (3 WTA).

The Czech needed 2 hours and one minute to defeat the number 3 seed, at the end of a match in which Barbora won her sets convincingly (6-1 and 6-0).

In the grand final, Barbora Krejcikova will meet with the most prepared player on the circuit, Iga Svyatek (1 WTA).

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships runs from February 19 to 25 on hard, is part of the “WTA 1000” category and has a total prize pool of $2,788,468. Simona Halep won the tournament in 2015 and 2020, and the last edition went to Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia.
