Boxer Conor Benn tested positive after eating too many eggs

The International Boxing Federation (WBC) decided to remove Benn from doping charges, reports AFP.

A positive test for clomiphene, a female fertility stimulant known to increase testosterone levels in men, caused the cancellation of last October’s match against British rival Chris Eubank Jr., News.ro reported.

At the age of 26, Conor has always denied doping with the mentioned banned substance.

After consulting with a nutritionist, the WBC found that “there is no conclusive evidence that Benn intentionally took clomiphene.”

“Conor Benn’s very high egg consumption during the period of testing is a reasonable explanation,” WBC officials said.

Despite the decision, Benn remains under investigation by the UK Anti-Doping Agency and the British Boxing Council and will have to travel to another country if he wants to compete.
