Super League 2 has been honored

It’s been almost a month since the Superleague 2 championship went on the ice. And the “lockout” may remain in the coming days, but there are first signs that the teams will line up in the center again. In yesterday’s stormy B.D. a minor leaguer that hid a strong undercurrent, a decision was made to extend the league’s suspension. However, the simultaneous decision to start a dialogue with institutional bodies (Deputy Minister of Sports, Super League 1) leaves room for optimism that a resumption is possible next weekend 4-5/3.

In the coming hours, a committee formed from representatives of PAE Chania, Kallithea, Anagennisis Karditsa, Aigaleo and Niki Volou will meet with L. Avgenakis and V. Marinakis.

Chania President Antonis Rokakis stated that he could mediate for each PAE to be funded with €150,000 on the condition that Leonidas Leoutsakos resign as President of the League, which the latter vehemently denied. The information says that this money will come from an already agreed betting grant (70,000 euros) and a central sponsorship that will add another 80,000 euros to the fund of each PAE. According to the president of SL2, he has expressed his intention to step down, but only if the €5.1 million funding envisaged by the original MLA is secured first. In fact, he wondered if the committee would sit down at the negotiating table with Mr. Avgenakis, since the latter’s non-negotiable position is to return to competitive action to start a dialogue. In general, with their statement, the players (PSAPP) advocated the resumption of the championship with simultaneous negotiations of all interested parties to find a solution.

• Olympiacos II was penalized with a five-point deduction from the current and next SL2 championship for withdrawing from the match against Kallithea. It should be noted that the second teams of Olympiacos, AEK, PAOK and Panathinaikos are not relegated or promoted.
