For the 2023 season, Mercedes is returning to black single-seaters (they were also used in 2020 and 2021). Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will be the drivers of the team, as last year.

Important changes to the new single-seater include the front wing, spoiler, floor and hood design.

Toto Wolff will be the leader of the team, as before.

After eight consecutive seasons in which it was the constructors’ championship (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), in 2022 Mercedes was forced to accept RedBull’s superiority.

Moreover, the team finished third, with Mercedes also ahead of Ferrari.

George Russell finished the season 4th (275 points) and Lewis Hamilton 6th (240 points).

Lewis Hamilton will try to end the hegemony of Max Verstappen (champion in 2021 and 2022), a possible new world title will allow the Briton to overtake the legendary Michael Schumacher in the hierarchy of Formula 1 titles.

Schumacher won in 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and Hamilton in 2008, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020.

The 2023 Formula 1 season will begin with the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 5. Next comes the Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia (Jeddah – March 19) and Australia (Albert Park – April 2).
