Mourning in Belgian football after amateur Winkel Sport B goalkeeper Arne Espeel died just hours after the match against Westroesebeke.

Arne Espeel, the goalkeeper of the Winkel Sport B amateur team, died at the age of 25

Arne Espeel played for the second team of the Belgians with Winkel Sport B, and the goalkeeper started in the match against Winkel Sport, which took place the day before.

Arne Espel, 25, deflected an 11-yard shot in the second half with the score 2-1 in favor of his team and immediately fell to the pitch, causing panic among his team-mates.

The goalkeeper was resuscitated on the field for several minutes, he died on the way to the hospital.

As reported in RMC Sport, parents and brother were at the match when the tragic event happened.

“Winkel Sport is deeply saddened by the sudden death of goalkeeper Arne Espil. We extend our sincere condolences to Arne’s family and friends on this great loss. Football takes a back seat for a while.” – says the club’s official press release.

Arne Espel had no health problems, but an autopsy on Monday will determine exactly what caused the death.
