Greek Cup: dominance of yellow and black

AEK has been on the cusp of reaching the Cup final since yesterday when they beat Olympiacos 3-0 at Agia Sophia in the first game between the two in the establishment’s semi-final stage. The Union managed to pretty much “seal” the victory in the first half hour of the match, during which they scored twice on the net, and on the other hand, the Red-Whites had a bad day, paying for Mitchell’s unjustified rebounds in the starting lineup.

Despite many changes and the rotation of Matthias Almeida, AEK entered the field with huge success from the stands, as it was the first match against Olympiacos in New Philadelphia in over 20 years. Thus, only in the 3rd minute, after consecutive mistakes by Papastathopoulos and Vrusai, the ball reached Livay Garcia, who ran into Tsolakis and a penalty kick opened the scoring.

Olympiacos tried to recover from the shock of an early goal and would have succeeded if Gary Rodriguez’s shot had not stopped on Stanković’s post in the 14th minute. AEK managed to score the second goal in the 27th minute of the phase, which was also helped by luck, as after successive fights in the Tsolakis area, Samaseku sent the ball into the team’s goal in an attempt to pursue with a header. .

In the second half, Olympiacos leveled the game and in the 56th minute they had a post again after a Gary Rodriguez strike, while Union responded with a Mandalos post in the 61st minute.

The icing on the cake for AEK was stoppage time when Doi knocked down Gacinovic in the box and Dabanovic awarded a penalty after using VAR. Livay Garcia didn’t make a mistake and with his second goal in the semi-final, he reached the final with a 3-0 score, which gives his team a huge advantage before the rematch with Karaiskakis.

On a bad day for the “red-whites” – the Union found a goal with a push from the 3rd minute.

AEK: Stankovic, Sidibe, Mitoglu, Cavellas (Vida, 73), Hadjisafi, Galanopoulos (Simanski, 64), Mandalos (Pineda, 83), Eliasson (Amrabat, 83), Gacinovich, Zuber (Araujo, 64), Garcia.

OLYMPIC: Tsolakis, Vrusai (Rodinei 46), Doi, Papastathopoulos, Reabtsiuk, Samasekou (Fortunis 46), Huang (Valbuena 66), Embila, Biel (Butucci 39), Gary Rodriguez, El Arabi (Bakabu 66) .

Deposit to Lamia

A heavy snowfall that covered Athanassios Diakos from end to end led the EPO to decide to postpone the semi-final of the Lamia-PAOK Cup, which was scheduled to take place yesterday at 18.30, without exposing the players to the inconvenience of going to the stadium to determine the unsuitability of the playing field by the referee. The PAOK delegation left by road for Thessaloniki at noon, because according to the recommendation of the Organizing Committee, the report of the observers and the autopsy in the morning, adverse weather conditions did not allow the match to be played the next day. A new date for the semi-final will be set by the EPO.
