During her career, Olena won two gold medals in alpine skiing of the World Cup (Lake Louise in 2005 and Cortina d’Ampezzo in 2015).
He also won a silver medal at the 2005 World Championships in downhill. Fancini participated in three Winter Olympic Games.
She was forced to withdraw from the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics due to cancer.
A year later, she attempted to return to competition, but an illness forced her to permanently retire from the sport in 2020.
Mikaela Shiffrin, the all-time record holder with 84 World Cup victories, sent an emotional message following the untimely death of Elena Fancini.
