Fredrik Gulbrandsen (Adana Demirspor): “I was sure that this was the end for me”
“Since the earthquake happened, I have been in a state of shock and thinking about what to say about the current situation. I have no words to describe how scared I was on February 6 when the earthquake hit Adana. I slept on the top floor of the 15-story apartment in which I live. I was sure that this was the end for me.
As I crawled across the floor trying to get out of the building, I was sure the floor would collapse beneath me. I still don’t understand how that building is still standing. The movement was so strong that I felt like I was in a boat caught in a strong storm.
When I came out, I saw people running out of their buildings in terror. I was very lucky. I can’t imagine what those who have lost their loved ones, so many people, are feeling right now. My soul is with them and I pray for them.
I feel like I have something to say. Just so people can understand a little bit, although I don’t think it’s possible unless you’ve been there and experienced what it was like. Under the ruins of many cities in Turkey and Syria, thousands of people are dead or waiting to be found.
The Turkish Super League has decided to postpone the matches for a week! Week!! I cannot understand how we could play football while so many people are fighting for their lives in the earthquake affected area. The images of that night still come to mind, I am, to put it mildly, traumatized.
Fortunately, I was alone in the apartment, my fiancee was not there. And I’m glad he wasn’t there to experience all that I experienced. My first thought when I got to safety was that I wanted to be with my family who was 1000 miles away.
I’m writing this because it seems the people who made the decisions don’t understand how traumatic this experience was for so many people. Even if they survived. There are so many people right now, myself included, who don’t know if their homes are safe to live in or if they will ever be able to enter their homes again.
Could there be problems that are not visible, and what happens if there is another big shock? Will the buildings survive? There is a lot of uncertainty in the whole situation. I don’t know what exactly I want to write this, but I think I just needed to share my thoughts, express my opinion for myself and others. I love football and it’s my biggest passion, it’s very important to me, but life is more important” – Fredrik Gulbrandsen on Instagram.

Angelo Sagal (Gaziantep): “My 4-year-old son told me that a monster is taking over our house”
“It was awful. It was 04:00. I was sleeping. We woke up immediately. He took his wife and children. We stood in the doorway. I felt that the earthquake was different from the earthquake in Chile in 2010. It started quietly, but then intensified. I felt the house shake very much. My 4-year-old son told me that a monster is taking over our house” – Angelo Sagal for the Chilean press, reports Milliyet.

Stefan Bahoken (Kasimpaşa): “I felt the earthquake as if it lasted at least 5-6 minutes”
“Around 04:00, the hotel started shaking. I was sleeping and suddenly I felt my bed shake. In my room, windows and cupboards started to break. With each passing moment I could feel the earthquake intensifying. It probably lasted less than a minute, but I thought it was at least 5-6 minutes.
We are lucky because our hotel is earthquake resistant. I held tightly to the bed and waited for it to be over. Then I packed my things and left with my colleagues. Some went out barefoot. When I left the hotel and saw the collapsed buildings, I thought that our hotel might also collapse on us. We could die. I escaped death” – Stefan Bahokenaccording to the materials of haberler.com.
The devastating earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria earlier this week has killed more than 7,700 people.
