Juventus are hoping to salvage their season with a trophy after a 15-point penalty in Serie A, while Lazio seem more interested in the league, where they are fighting for a place in the UEFA Champions League.

Juventus have won the Coppa Italia 14 times (a record), most recently in the 2020-2021 season after the final against Atalanta, scoring 2-1 in Reggio Emilia, while Lazio have seven trophies, the last of which came in the 2018-2019 edition, scoring 2- 0 in the last act, in Rome, with Atalanta.

Juventus now have just 23 points and have dropped to 13th after losing 15 points at the green table due to financial irregularities and the sanctions seem to have completely ruined them.

The team coached by Massimiliano Allegri has collected just one point in their last three Serie A games, 1-5 with Napoli (s), 3-3 with Atalanta (a) and 0-2 with Montserrat (a).

The surprise defeat at Monza, their first of the current Serie A season at home, came 10 days after newly promoted Juventus beat them, also in Turin, in the last 16 of the Coppa Italia with by a score of 2:1.

Lazio are 3rd in the league with 38 points after 20 matches, level with AC Milan and Atalanta and just one point ahead of Roma. These are also the teams from which two UEFA Champions League players will be selected (Napoli). 53 points and 40 points of “Inter” for the leader to overcome is very difficult, if not impossible).

Maurizio Sarri’s capitols come off the back of two wins and a draw in Serie A, 2-0 at Sassuolo (d), 4-0 at Milan (a) and 1-1 at Fiorentina (a), a period in which they also “Bologna” in the Italian Cup, at home with a score of 1:0, reaching the quarter-finals of the competition.

In the last head-to-head match between the two teams played in the league on 13 November 2022, Juventus beat Lazio 3-0 at home thanks to goals from Keane, 43, 54 and Milik, 89.
