In an interview with the Hungarian mass media, Babos (former number one in the world in doubles) talked about the problems that arose during cooperation with Drouet.

“He’s a psychopath! Maniac! As for my weight, if I had an extra kilo, my eyes would pop out. I had big mental problems” – Timea Babos.

In defense, Drouet listed the results achieved by the athlete from Hungary during their joint work.

“Timea and I worked together for 6 years. I started when he was ranked 125 in singles and about 50 in doubles. It was my longest collaboration, I remember when I started with her, she was knocked down, didn’t trust her forehand and had trouble breathing due to stress.

But Timaea’s greatest quality was her work ethic, willing to train at 7 a.m. if that was the best option. He has put in a lot of effort to improve his form, technique and many other aspects… together we have reached the top 25 in singles and 1st in doubles.

According to the WTA, Thomas Drouet has worked with players Ana Bohdan, Jacqueline Christian, Timea Babos, Anna Blinkova, Marion Bartoli, Shuai Peng, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Qiang Wang throughout his coaching career.
