Eddie Howe and Newcastle’s memorable season – Kotofenele to play in FA Cup final

After 1-0 in the round on st. Mary’s Stadium, Newcastle United did just as well in the second leg away to Southampton.

Third in the Premier League, Eddie Howe’s side were already 2-0 up thanks to a brace from Shaun Longstaff (5 min. and 21 min.).

Scotsman Che Adams reduced the difference for the “saints” (min. 29), and at the break “Newcastle” had a minimal advantage in the table.

The game was fairly even in the second half. Eddie Howe’s men wasted a few more important moments and defended the result behind the table.

In the 81st minute, Brazilian Bruno Guimarães received a red card.

Thus, after a 47-year break, Newcastle will play in the final of the League Cup. Kofenele do not have this trophy on their record, they lost the only final they played against Manchester City.

In the other semi-final, “Manchester United” will play away from “Nottingham Forest”. In the round, the score was 3:0 in favor of Erik ten Haeg’s team.
