Funsho Bamgboye, Rapid’s new player

Born on January 9, 24-year-old Bamgboy has signed a contract until the summer of 2024 with an option to extend for another season.

“It is very good for me to be here and to be part of this club. I am very satisfied with the choice made. To be honest, I knew quite a bit about Rapid because when they first told me about Rapid, I told them I knew the club, the conditions here. It was wonderful. It’s incredible for me to be here, to be involved in something as big and important as the club’s centenary, so I’m delighted to be here now. I also saw supporters. It was incredible to see that they are always there and support their team, no matter what happens” – Funsho Bamgboe for fcrapid.ro.

Born in Lagos, Funsho attended the ASPIRE academy in Senegal before arriving in Qatar at Aspire Football Dreams and was considered one of the top three Nigerian players of his age.

At the beginning of 2017, he arrived in Europe, in Haladash, Hungary. After two and a half seasons, Bamgboye moved to MOL Fehervar, where he spent three and a half years. Here he played in the final of the Hungarian Cup and took second place in 2020. The Nigerian also has 10 matches in European Cups for Fegervar.

The new Rapid midfielder also has the U17 World Cup title with Nigeria in 2015 when he scored in the final against Mali (2-0), the other goal was scored by Victor Osimene, the current Napoli superstar.

In the current season of the first league of Hungary, Bamboye played in 11 matches, managing to score two goals. The midfielder also trained with Fehervar, last playing on January 19 when he played 31 minutes against Radnicka.
