The pair of Irina Begu and American Shelby Rogers crashed out in the first round of the Australian Open 2023 doubles on Friday.

Begu and his counterpart were defeated by favorites no. 3, Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and Mexico’s Juliana Olmos, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. The match lasted one hour and 35 minutes.
For being in the main draw, Iryna and Shlebi will receive a check for 19,292 euros and 10 points in the WTA doubles ranking.
We will remind, Iryna Begu (63 WTA) also left the singles after losing to Laura Siegemund (158 WTA) in the second round, the score was 7-5, 5-7, 3-6.
Romania is also represented in doubles by Monika Niculescu (together with Victoria Golubic) and Gabriela Ruse (together with Marta Kostiuk).
