Annette Kontaveit, defeated by Magda Lynette at the Australian Open
Kontaveit (16th seed), seeded 19th after her recent poor results, started the match well and won the first set 6-3, but made more and more errors and allowed her opponent to come back.
Magda did not refuse Anette’s gifts and won after an hour and 52 minutes of play with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
Know:
- In the next round, Lynette will play Russian Kateryna Alexandrova (18 WTA, 19 seed), who defeated Taylor Townsend (135 WTA) in three sets with a score of 1-6, 6-2, 6-3.
- Kontaveit had a career-best Grand Slam finish at the Australian Open: the quarterfinals in 2020.
Australian Open 2023 will be held from January 16 to 29. The champions of the title were Ashley Barty (now retired from sports) and Rafael Nadal.
