Simona Halep (31 years old) is temporarily disqualified for doping, and John McEnroe told Eurosport about the case involving the former WTA leader.
The Romanian is temporarily suspended from tennis due to a positive test for Roxadustat (conducted during the US Open 2022).
The end of Simona Halep’s career if she is found guilty, says John McEnroe
Speaking to Eurosport, McEnroe believes that if Simona is found guilty of doping, it will be the end of her career for the winner of Roland Garros-2018 and Wimbledon-2019.
“Symona had a great career, but now there is obviously a huge cloud over her. So we all want to know, I really hope she is innocent.
I think that’s what the whole tennis world is hoping for, so if this process goes quickly, it will be good… if we can get to the bottom of it and find out what really happened.
So, in any case, hopefully the outcome will be determined soon, because it’s basically career-ending if she’s found guilty.
So I’m looking forward to the results because that’s something you don’t want to be involved in if you’re a player, especially if you’re innocent.” – John McEnroe for Eurosport.

The case of Simona Halep will be considered in an emergency mode
Simona’s case will be heard urgently by Sports Resolution, an independent court in London that hears doping cases in white sport.
However, if innocence cannot be proven, Simone has one more appeal: the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.
It will be recalled that the maximum suspension that Halep could receive is 4 years.
