Carlos Roberto de Oliveira has been battling bowel cancer and the club where he spent most of his career, Vasco da Gama, made a sad statement.

“It was with great pain that Vasco da Gama learned that the greatest of all had left us on Sunday. Carlos Roberto de Oliveira, aka Dynamite, dedicated 29 of his 68 years as a player and president to the club. Rest in peace!” – says the club’s official press release.

The Brazilians also made a statue of him in front of the San Januario Stadium.

With 38 appearances and 20 goals for the Brazilian national team, Roberto Dynamite is Vasco da Gama’s all-time top scorer (708) and Brazil’s all-time top scorer (190).

Roberto Dynamite won the Brazilian Championship in 1974 and the Rio State Championship five times (1977, 1982, 1987, 1988 and 1992).

In 1979, he also signed a contract with FC Barcelona, ​​but failed to establish himself in the Catalan team.

Dynamite was president of the Vasco da Gama club from 2008 to 2014, but also held 5 parliamentary seats in Rio.
