
The beginning of the year once again brings mourning to the royal sport. Italy’s Gianluca Vialli, a former international who made 59 appearances and scored 16 goals, has died in London aged just 58 after a long illness.

After Sinisha Mykhailovych and Pele, another great champion, Gianluca Vialli, left the arena forever.
The former Cremonese, Sampdoria, Juventus and Chelsea forward has been suffering from pancreatic cancer and announced in December that he was stepping down from his role in the Italy national team staff to focus on treatment.
Vialli’s impressive career
Gianluca Vialli was born on July 9, 1964 in Cremona and played for Cremonese (1980-1984), Sampdoria (1984-1992), Juventus (1992-1996) and Chelsea (1996-1999).
He scored 259 goals in 674 matches. He wore the Squadra Azzurri shirt 59 times (between 1985-1992), during which he scored 16 times.
