Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to his Brazilian colleague Jair Bolsonaro in connection with the death of the legendary Pele, one of the greatest players in the history of football.

“Thanks to his talent, his unique abilities, his exciting and beautiful game, football has become the favorite game of millions of people around the world, including in Russia.

It was a pleasure to talk to this wonderful person, and I will always have the best memories of him.” Putin said in a telegram addressed to Bolsonaro.

Vladimir Putin met with Pele and Diego Maradona before the World Cup 2018 group draw in Russia. The Russian president was also with the Brazilian at the 2017 Confederations Cup match.
