As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday, this news is not pleasant at all for Gianluca Vialli. The former striker of “Juventus” and “Chelsea” (58 years old) is fighting for his life, the opponent is not easy: pancreatic cancer.
Gianluca Vialli is fighting pancreatic cancer
In 2017, Vialli publicly stated that he was going through the toughest match of his life: a battle with pancreatic cancer.
“An unwelcome guest that I would be happy to avoid,” said the former Italy striker.
Gianluca announced last week that he was leaving his position at the Azzurri, and his words alarmed his loved ones and fans: “I hope it will be a temporary resignation.”
Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Tuesday that the former Italy international’s condition could worsen and that Vialli has been re-admitted to a clinic in London, where the former striker has already undergone two cycles of chemotherapy.
Italian journalists also claim that Gianluca’s mother, 87-year-old Maria Teresa, left Cremona for London on Tuesday morning, suggesting that Vialli is not well at all.
Just a few days ago (not Friday, December 16), the news of the death of Sinisha Mykhailovych (at the age of only 53) shocked the football world.
The former player of the Serbian national team lost his battle with leukemia, a disease he was diagnosed with in July 2019.
At the age of 58, Gialuka Vialli played for Cremonese (1980-1984), Sampdoria (1984-1992), Juventus (1992-1996) and Chelsea (1996-1999).
From 1985 to 1992, he played 59 matches for the Italian national team, scoring 16 goals.
